Is there a way to tell when your rifle was manufactured by looking at the serial number. Something like "all rifles 100000-100100 were made in 1995". Is there some where i can go to look up that info. Just want to know how old my rifle is, thanks.

There are threads in the M14/M1A Research Data Center that will you give an approximate month and year by serial number.

Since mine is a CMP build I feel like singing Johnny Cash's "One Piece at a Time." It's a '59, '60, '61, '62, '63, '64 semi auto 14. dance2

Congrats on the new rifle, Charon. Of course, the denizens here will now want a range report and pictures. Just so you know. GI1

Two of them in Jan. 2010.

S.A.I. N/M 240### and a loaded 243###.

No idea when they were actually made.

Maunz Mfg. 0007

Guess it was minted around '77 or so. Not sure, exactly.

Just check the Forum's Research Database. "SA Inc. M1A Born On" info is right at the top. Can't get much better than that.
