Happy Birthday, Marines! 235 years of Honor, Esprit de Corps, and Motivation!

Get a birthday cake and get some friends together. When you cut a cake with a sword at a restaurant, work, or school, you will get a lot of surprised looks. Back in med school I took in a cake that said " USMC 227 years of Death and Destruction". Great looks on their compassionate college kid faces. Even better when I pulled out the blade to cut it with.

1986 the Birthday fell on the weekend and our battalion CO, LtCol. Holtzbauer - 3/7 1st MarDiv., really wanted to party!

So, liberty was cancelled and we geared up, full gear and weapons, for a 15 mile hike around the hills of San Mateo on Pendleton. They had burgers and beer waiting for us on the parade deck when we got back. The best Birthday ever......DI5
