Gunshow was worth the trip

We hit the gunshow in Ft. Wayne, Indiana Saturday morning. It's not nearly as big as it used to be. But it was worth the trip.
I snagged:

An HRA op rod.
An HRA trigger group. (SA hammer)
A spare extractor.
A stock liner nut wrench.
All at reasonable prices. Also grabbed a pair of 200 round cans of Aussie ammo.
A very enjoyable way to spend Saturday morning!

gunshow

Recently, went to one in so. indiana and was a complete disapointment. There was a gentleman there with an M1A that had an armscorp rev,r and a TRW bolt with no markings on the barrel that I could find and a terrible looking F/s with a finish I cant describe. all and all not the worst rifle I have ever seen, but the price nearly floored me $2500.00 8O
dz86 What did you have to give for the Oprod? and who's Flavor is it? :?:
The Indy 1500 is comming up on the 29th, 30th, 31st. It's always a good show.
AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I was gonna go, $500 cash in hand, Saturday morning...

...but then the wife was laid off her job Friday.

(But on the good side, Team America: World Police was a hoot last night--we needed summthin' to get our minds off things).
The op rod is an HRA. He wanted $85 for it. He also had the trigger groups at $75. So I offered him $150 for the pair and he accepted. So I guess it was $75, depending on how you want to devide it up.
There was another vendor there that had 2 op rods at $90 each. They also had stripped bolts at $75, which were all Israeli marked.
Another vendor had a row of really nice stocks at $50 each, and some of the really good looking repro flash suppressors at $50 each.
A surprizing variety of stuff for a smaller show.

By the way, sorry about the bad news Spike.

Dave
Aloha DZ,

Looks like you found yourself some really nice "goodies"! Very Cool... Love hearing about those nice finds!

Spike, that is bad news about your wife being laid off, I hope everything is still ok.

Aloha,

Tom O.
Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Yeah, we're OK for now. The writing was on the wall on their downsizing for a few months now. She's a darn good editor, and has some other things tentatively lined up for now. She's from good Hoosier stock, and will bounce back quickly.

A little more spaghetti, and one less box of ammo at the range, and things should work out... :)

PS: Killer deal, Dave. Congrats. I remember back when the Coliseum was jam-packed, but the show has gotten smaller and smaller over the past few years. BTW, there is a really good shop in Churubusco, where I got a couple of Wilson 8-round stainless .45 mags, extremely lightly used, for like $15 last year. I want to say it's on U.S. 6 (?). Sorry. Forgot the name.
I'll bet you're talking about Tomlinson's on US 33.

Yep! You got it!

Awful nice folks there, and they've really saved the day on those drives back to "The Greater Goshen Metropolitan Area" after a really crappy Fort Wayne show. I've been known to spend more cash at Tomlinson's than at the show...

I saw that rifle at Scottsburg on Saturday. What a joke!!!! The rifle looked good, but not that good. By the way, it had a GI NM barrel on it. I'd say about a $1200 rifle. I feel like I wasted my $5 to get in. I'll be at the Indy 1500 show for sure. I have picked up two Poly's there for $500 and $550. The one for $500 has Smith Ent. on the heel... AIRBORNE!
When is the Indy 1500 show? Some of us might drive there if its that good.
It's Halloween weekend, and billed as the largest show East of the Mississippi. Dunno if it's just marketing hype, but I was at the one in March, and it was huge.

A bit light in the M14 department last time, but if you don't leave there with an empty wallet and a smile on your face, you ain't a Gun Guy, IMHO. :D

(the trick is have your wife/significant other--if so attached--spend a day at the spa with their friends in Indy, and head to the show for a couple of days--that's how I swung it...).

It runs roughly quarterly.

Spike
Agreed. I also am not sure about the "largest east of the Mississippi" claim, since it is most definately not as big as nat'l gun day in Louisville. But it is a big gunshow. It's the best show that I have ever found when wanting to buy case lots of ammo, military surplus stuff, and handguns. Lots of dealers with table after table of handguns.
