A gun shop in Suburban Chicago is going to raffle an AR15 to Benefit Orlando Victims. Not sure if this is the correct place to put this if not please move it.

Now is not the time to be throwing gasoline on that fire. Not like that. You can bet your last dollar that stuff like this will drive more people away than attract them to the cause.

It actually kind of makes me sick they're using the incident for publicity.

I think they could anonymously donate the proceeds if they really want to contribute and not just want to do this to set up a argument.

I think people that are going to be offended will be offended anyway no matter what, and those that won't, won't be. Those that are offended, are offended by the gun as usual.

Firearms purchases are way up among the LBGT community, so many are taking self defense seriously and I'd guess that many of these would appreciate the gesture and wouldn't be offended.

The raffle has been cancelled. Apparently it's not legal to raffle guns unless you are a non for profit organization.

Of course it has been. They will look the other way when it comes to certain high profile people compromising the nation's security, but won't bend a rule to help people do good because there's a gun involved. I wouldn't be surprised if they got in trouble for even doing the raffle (and not knowing that law).
