Hello M14 Forum.

I recently came across this site while searching for M1A info. I have spent the past couple of weeks browsing through the seemingly endless knowledge here. I thought I might introduce myself and thank you all for your helpful posts.

I live in Massachusetts and have just recently gone through the ridiculously difficult process of obtaining a licence-to-carry permit. About 3 months time and $425! There is a long gun only license that would have taken much less time and $$$ but whats the point of having a strictly limited licence? I am a first generation gun license holder in my family as they are all anti-gun. I plan on taking classes from instructors at a local gun range(Harvard). A friend at work, whom has a Class III machine gun license, suggested I look into gun ownership.

I have decided on getting myself a SAI M1A Loaded in synthetic green MA9229 and I am currently on the backorder list at my local shop. It will probably take me about 4-6 weeks to actually pick it up unfortunately.

I'm thinking about getting a scope mounted as well but I have to get a rifle first! Most definitely purchasing a Sadlak Airborne mount thanks to RightHand's awesome help within this forum. Probably the Sadlak bipod package too. We shall see.

I have looked at the PX/BX section of this forum and have seen some deals. Unfortunately MA laws are complex and I feel buying locally might be better off to the amateur gun buyer.

Anyways, just wanted to say hello and thanks for the wealth of information I have received thus far!

Welcome!

I grew up in the far northwest near Vermont. WE could still bring our guns TO SCHOOL after hunting, check them with the principal, then hunt our way home.

Then we had the LIFETIME FID CARD, that don't work anymore...thanks to legislators who have the cranium up their rectum.

I can understand your frustration with eastern mASSachusetts mASSholes and Politicians. You can't vote them out as the idiots outnumber the good folk in the hills, try anyway.

Hey Reiles, it's good to see another from here choosing to arm themselves for whatever the reason may be.

If you're itching to get get your hands on one there's usually a shop or two down here on the south shore that has one in stock.

Try either one of these guys.

http://www.mmpbo.com/ in Plymouth

or

http://htpltd.com/ in Weymouth

Both are good shops that didn't jump in on the price gouging bandwagon over the past few years like most did.

A lot of folks on a local forum love these guys, I've only made the trip once and it was a zoo in there when I went.

Good luck.

Hey thanks for the info.

I ended up going to Four Seasons this afternoon. They had a M1A Loaded in black synthetic stock so i picked one up. The had my local guy beat by $175!

It was a madhouse but I was in and out in 20 minutes.

Now I'm home watching all of Tony's youtube videos. Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Nice to hear you got one!

They're a tiny bit cheaper than the spots I usually hit but being on the south shore I'd end up spending more due to the gas money. Being an hour away the only upside of heading there is hitting the Bulington mall for some Chik Fil A, ICONLOL yeah I'm fat(that stuff is my heroin of choice).
