The "media" will twist anything that isn't to their or the progressives liking. And after they've silenced the OC people they will come and twist the "law" for the CC people. Michelle obama is busy telling people what their children can and can't eat in school, what's next. And she's a NOBODY who happens to be married to the "president". She's not a congressman or a senator...she's a citizen just like you or me. A NOBODY really. I for one am tired of trying to be politically corrrect; because once you are politically correct you are in fact one of them. Reason and logic means nothing to these people.

Okay on to the part about how open carriers are perceived, these pictures that they show, you know of these poorly dressed or out of shape individuals all holding their guns at the low ready position.

First off when, if asked to pose for a picture while possessing a long gun, do you just leave it hanging by the sling across your back? You don't, not while posing for a picture, you put it right out there in front of you. This goes for all of us, soldiers to civilians. Look at a history book on the civil war, portraits of soldiers that contain their muskets, are all held out front in a manner that prominently displays the firearm... just saying... this whole how we hold a long arm thing in photos is not new.

Do you honestly think they carry these guns weighing from 6 to 15 pounds at the low ready or port arms all day?

We're being taken advantage of and exploited for a political purpose and what is worse is the vast majority of you fail to see it. They cherry pick the most disheveled and out of shape amongst these people and parade them all like that is the standard with which all of open carriers adhere to, all in an effort to demonize open carry.

And here we are bickering amongst ourselves about perceptions... obviously they, the media, are already achieving their desired effect.

I'm sure I could easily find a picture of an obese construction worker doing something unsafe. Just as easily find a picture of a police officer to the same effect. Does not mean that standard applies to all of them.

Bingo. Have the gun grabbers ever been satisfied? No more machine guns, background checks, AWB, etc. and they always want more. The problems coming from open carry are that people can see the weapon, meaning people can be offended, the problem cops can better profile you, the troublemakers can bug the local PD about you, and the weapon is more accessible to others because it is in the open.
However, only the last thing is the real issue. The rest are problems with other people. Given the estimates of people who own weapons, I’d say that (as wise as this likely isn’t given the poor state of open carry laws in certain states) that if we all (100 +/- million of us) walked around with a pistol openly displayed on our hips and/or a rifle on our backs, after a while the idiots would have to either deal or buy stores empty of depends. Of course nobody can organize us enough for even 10 million of us to do that, but such an action would put the realities in their faces.
The benefit to individuals openly carrying weapons is that they are arguably easier for the user and faster to draw and employ. However, done daily and by many (on the order of 5-10 percent of the population in the very least, preferably 20 or so) it becomes a tool to show others that we can have weapons out and about with few (someone’s gonna screw it up) incidents.

So I guess it falls logically as follows: either we

1) Simply carry as we do and go through the normal fight and fight amongst ourselves as we always will, just letting everything go along is it may and gaining and losing ground with the additional nonsense to come in the form of public killing sprees and injury by accidental discharges.

2) Try and truly organize and kick some misconception ass

I should also say that people are pretty oblivious. Doing the empty holster protest for Students for Concealed Carry made me realize how few people notice you're wearing a holster when you're standing right in front of them and talking to them.
I should also say that my buddy, who is from and has since returned to India after getting his Master's in Mechanical Engineering, was on the bus with me and when we hopped off (he was by the window seat) he said that the girl across the aisle saw my holster and gasped in horror. xD

Just because you can does not mean you should.

If you have ever been to Alaska, you will see all manner of carry and variety of weapons. Living and playing in bear country, this is practical. Walking around a major metropolitan city in the lower 48 with a rifle, is at the least, threatening. Not to mention unpractical.

Albuquerque has "ghost bikes" all over the city. These are white-painted bicycles that memorialize some dumb-sheet that thought riding a bicycle on a major thorough fare was a good idea. They STILL have not realized that a half-ton vehicle at 55 MPH will win every time.

Just because you can, does not mean you should.

Putting a concealed handgun into action is both tactically prudent, and not nearly as heavy.

No the reason everyone hates on Christians is because of the vocal few that go out and spew hate and use the Bible as justification for it. No where did Jesus tell us to go around and judge others and thump people on the head with his words. He in fact told us to love people, he told us to be a light to the world. Paul said that we should return hate with love, so that in doing so, the person feels so bad that it's like they are having hot coals heaped upon them. Everyone remembers John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." but no one ever remembers the next verse, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." The church quit loving and started judging and condemning. That is when Jesus started getting crushed in America. We are supposed to be his light and lead by example, but we are too busy worrying about the splinter in everyone else's eye to see the plank in our own.

and regardless of what you say, these guys that do go into businesses actually hurt gun rights, you can argue all you want, but the fact and truth of the matter is that where ever they show up to protest, people complain (it doesn't matter that it's Bloomtards) and the corporation requests that people quit carrying in their stores.
