I bought these just to keep things from impacting each other. They are thick tube socks and I have them on everything from ARs to lever guns. They are also great when I don't have enough cases for the guns I want to take to the range

Try, The Bore Store. Their silicon socks protect against rust and dings in the safe. I bought them for all my long guns and pistols!

They work like a charm!

Some stock experts say silicon impregnated gunsocks can damage wood finish on oiled stocks. I had minor blotching on one newish Garand stock but I was able to clean it up with acetone and a new coat of oil. Your mileage may vary.

I use these for better protection against dings, and rust.
But they do cost more, worth it in my opinion.

I followed your advice and never looked back, they work like a charm!

Not commenting on which sock, but yes, doing that and alternating barrel up / barrel down will have you buying more guns in no time

Really helps to increase safe capacity

That's the good news and the bad news!
