I believe and I've been wrong before that the Gibbs rifles are after market and not military.

Just from what I've seen of them though. And having not seen a lot they may have brought some in that were military rifles.

They may rework them but the barrels sure are new.

It looks to be a tossup on which ones they are using. Many of them are based on the No. 1 Mark III or III* except for a few which are based on the No. 4 Mk I, II or No. 5

The Gibbs rifles are all built on reworked Enfield receivers. The .308 weapons are built on No.2A Ishapore weapons. There is now a .45-70 version, for those who hate their shoulders. :D

The August issue of Guns and Ammo had a question asked of Michael Zomber regarding the Gibbs rifles. His answer was the Gibbs rifels were made on the MK4 and MK5 Enfields.

I think he read this thred and got his answers from the posting of TLynn.

Where but Firing Line could one be exposed to this much diverse knowledge.

I purchased one of their "extreme" jungle carbines last year. Everything looks to be new, and finished in a dull nickel. Shoots very well, and is a reworked No.4 MkI .303 For a fool proof tough as a rock knock-around gun, these are great. Paid $200
