Just installed the GG&G scout rail with Burris Fastfire 3 and AMS machine, low and strong protective mount. Can see the irons clearly in the large channel in the GG&G mount under the red dot. Works great, Love it ,take a look.

I was wondering if you tried to mount your optic directly on the Scout rail, and if so did it co-witness with the irons?

No it would not co witness, factory rail is to high, and it has no big channel specificallly made for the irons. So you loose the irons as backup. This mount is about the same height as the factory rail and designed to look under the red dot with the irons. Have a good chin weld with the optic, may try a short leather riser on the stock. really don't need one. The rail on this mount is much longer than the factory one and allows moving the small optic further back to the rear , makes the sight picture much bigger. I believe the optic will be cooler and not heat as quickly as the factory mount.

GG&G scout rail with FASTFIRE 3 additions

Put on a low check riser to help with my chin and face on that hard wood stock. Works great it's only about 3/8 inch tall , there are more pads in the package to raise it higher if need be. Next thing I am going to do is try the Lucky-Irish striper clip mount, got one on the way, to see how it compares with the scout mount as far as height goes. From his pictures on this sight looks like it may be 1/8 inch taller. I am retaining my irons now and can see them clearly, used them today at the range at 100 yds. The red dot is just for fast close work. I will post a comparsion of the two mounts and their ease of use. The lucky-Irish mount is the only striper clip mount that I have seen that keeps the irons like the mount I have now. I wantto keep thoses iron full functional in case I have to jerk a inop red off the rifle.

Scout rail changed for diferent set up

Purchased one of the stripper clip mounts from Lucky-Irish Firearms that were for sale on the forum. Did away with the scout rail, this red dot rail on the stripper clip is better. The sight is very easy to use this close to your eyes, this mount also has a channel under the sight, in the mount, that retains the iron sights fully functional. Very easy to use, can see the irons very clearly, only have a 3/8 inch tall stock raiser on the rifle, can see the red dot clearly, good cheek weld, can drop down to the irons quickly, riser is so low does not interfere with seeing the irons clearly. Love this new set up. Makes this scout squad rifle very quick sighting. No burning your hand on scout rail, only 3/16" taller, can't tell the difference in height when sighting.
