Don't know whether it's corrosive or not but you said it's FRENCH???? 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

RUN AWAY!!! RUN AWAY!!!
8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O
Be carefull with that stuff if ya put to much of it in yer rifle it might cause it to leep from your hand and lay in the dirt 8O 8O 8O . I saw an add for some French rifles once, something like never been fired only dropped once :D
French? Does it have a little white flag painted on each round?
Uhhhh....are you SURE it's 7.62x51? To my knowledge the French never used that caliber. They used the 7.5x54 which is also known as the 7.5 French. Similar in appearance, but it will most definitely cause a problem if you try to shoot it in an M1A.

The headstamp is definitely French. My reference sources tell me that SF and SFM are:

Société Française des Munitions, (Gévelot S. A.), Place Jules Gévelot, 92310 Issy-Les-Moulineaux, France
haha, so many jokes available on this subject...
Regardless of caliber, if your ammo is a French headstamp, you might as well surrender. 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

Myself, I'll stick with brands from countries I know could/would/can/do fight.
the french ammo is probably underpowered. as is the 5.56 french service for the famas.
