A while back I was asking some reloading questions. Some one put a post up about something of a standard for handloading 168 gr bullets with 4895 IMR. How much powder is considered the standard load for best results. Also while I am at it what about other bullet wts where do most people get the best results? How much powder?
Also I have a bolt action 98 Mauser customised and chambered for 270 winchester. Any suggestions for bullet wt.? I don't have dies for 270 so I will just be buying some factory ammo, at least for now.

Most replies will say between 40.5 and 41.5 grains of IMR-4895 for the 168g match bullet. Personally, I use 41.5 and it performs fantastically in my NM M1A.

The combination of the .308 and 168g bullet is magic, I guess. It seems to be very tolerant of variations of powder charge and stay accurate. Issue may come down to desired velocity and recoil.

I have my 550 set to drop 41.5 of IMR 4895 using LC Milsurp cases with a Nosler CC 168 and get fairly decent results
