I need some help... something small I just discovered.

I have a SA NM M1A and a SA "loaded" M1A... both are supposed to have NM flash suppressors (FS).

When cleaning, my rod guide will fit the FS on the "loaded" but will only go half way into the FS on the NM. Is the "loaded" not a NM FS? According to the SA web page, both should be NM. Can this cause an accuracy problem? Anything to be concerned with?

Your help or insight will be appreciated.

Aloha and Best Wishes,

Tom O.

according to Kuhnhausen's book... the specs for a NM flash suppressor are as follow..... .406" I.D. at the mouth opening. This is done with a #7 taper pin reamer. If it's done this way, you shouldn't have any problems getting the cleaning rod and patch through. Mine is done this way! :D

Thanks Hawk

Thanks for the quick response. I will try to measure the inner diameter of the flash suppressors and see which one is out of spec.

It was just strange that my rod guide goes into one with no problem but is too large for NM flash suppressor.
