Anyone recommend Federal surplus military ammo? I found M80 .308 "For training use only" at Sportsman Guide.com Its not Federal Gold match- Or is it? Would this be a better buy than spending the money on surplus ADI ammo? Any suggestions, thanks.

Rifle ranges scarce in my woods - anyone in South Georgia?

M80 is great stuff, but I have found the ADF ammo to be just as good. In essence, both are fine.

It is not Federal Gold Match. The closest surplus ammo to FGM is the M118LR which is a Federal 175 grain round.

Most of the stuff marked 'training use only' is merely past its (very conservative) shelf life date or has been issued and returned to depot. Also , if the storage bunker had unsat temp or humidity , nothing really to worry about.

you know, you can buy LC 03 ammo (308/7.62) M80 ball from the CMP for something like $80/400 rds? I bought about 1600 rds from them awhile back and it's really good ammo but my M1A seems to like the ADI ammo a bit better.
