If anybody has a chance to see "The Founder" with Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, do it. It is an excellent movie and they did not sugarcoat it like they do most movies. Kroc really was an a-hole in real life, but how Mickey D's came to be is fascinating. It sucks today unfortunately.............
In 1958 I was earning $1/Hr. Never had any pocket money until the Marines. The cars in the pic would have been dream rides at the time. Unlike Marines of today, our barracks parking lot was full of junkers. Spending our disposable income on beer seemed like a bad idea at the time, but it saved many of us from the LeJeune water crud, which seemed to have hit the brown-baggers hardest.
"Mickey D's" is a last resort for me. Their quality is at the bottom compared to other chains. Back in the '60's I did eat there only because I was a poor teenager and they didn't have much competition.
