HappyTrails, I know the fun tinkering with these little projects. My question, was the steel wool, used for "burnishing"? I've never tried that cutter, but have used the 90 degree facer, and also the 45 degree chamfering cutter. It was hard to tell from your photos, but did you get any cutter "Chatter"? What I did, appeared to be similar to your picture of the cutter with the steel wool, it appears you used a "Backing" for the steel wool, what I did was cut a circle out of denim backed emery cloth, and used a hole punch for a 1/4" diameter hole, to use between the pilot and cutter. As it wears down the grit on the emery cloth it ends up polishing the crown, removing the chatter marks.
