If you want a cheap deer feeder, plant some Apple of Oak trees. Always there, always a food source for them, saves much more money in the long run, and no impact on natural behaviors. Our orchard is loaded all through winter.

Too many yahoos putting out corn feeders. If you want corn finished meat, go to the grocery store. Some of us would like to shoot a deer, on our property, that was finished on acorns and apples.

I've been using a PVC feeder for about 6 months.

Don't cap the bottom. Instead use a slotted drain cover. Find them in the irrigation section at Lowes. They're green. No water trapped at all.

It hasn't been working well. There's one doe (and about 10 raccoons) that LOVE it but all the others seem scared to death.

yrs ago we logged a job over around DeKalb. the property owners had 50 gal barrels hanging up in trees filled with cane syrup. bottom had one little nail hole & syrup would drip ever so often. they said a barrel full was good for a year. you shoulda seen the holes under those barrels the deer had dug!
