Well, have been thinking about taking a full size standard Sprinfield M1A and chopping it down to either Bush or Socom length.

My main reason behind this would be so I could have a chrome lined barrel.

I see now that there are some chrome lined barrels available, but wonder if wouldn't be just as easy/cheap to go this route. Especially with the whole headspacing issue.

So has anyone else done this? Bad idea? Cost? Decent gunsmith?

I would just buy a Criterion bush barrel.

The original builders from the arsenal would haunt you in your sleep if ya cut a USGI barrel. :lol:
