I noticed, while cleaning my rifle, that there was some unusual wear on my operating rod and on the underside of the chamber. If you look at the photos, you can see the issue. I am not really sure what would cause this and don't know if this is a normal issue. It is an M1A
SOCOM 16. Possibly to heavy of a load? The rounds were only 165 gr. Granted they were not the highest quality ammo. If anyone knows what this issue is and maybe how to remedy it, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is fairly common on SAI rifles using commercial SAI operating rods. I've seen quite a few of these posted on the forum over the years. Other than being an annoying eye sore, I've never heard of it causing problems. If it bothers you, get a reconditioned GI operating rod and you won't have that problem any more.

I'm sure there's a ding on the front of the receiver from where it's been hitting. Once they've both been impacted enough times, they shouldn't wear any farther.

Tony.
