I have a Springfield M1 Garand with a IHC bolt in it. I am about to replace the barrel with one from the CMP. My Garand is serial no. 1,784,. I would like to put a SA bolt in at the same time, for no particular reason but that I want to. I know that with the new barrel it doesn't matter as to value, but I would just like to have the correct bolt in it. Which bolt would be considered correct for this rifle ? Thanks, Tom

Thanks to everyone, but I found one already. I will probably keep the IHC bolt for a rainy day or another M1. Plus my barrel already came in from the CMP. Hope to have it going within a week or so. Tom

There was a war going on, I wouldn't get wrapped around the axle over heat lots as long as it was a correct -12 bolt.

That's my .02

As Phil said heat lots are only rough estimates
There are accurate references for M1 bolt heat lots just as there are accurate references for M1 receiver heat lots. Though I do agree the OP only needs to get the correct revision numbered bolt, he is rebarreling his M1 after all, if I'm eyeing a supposedly original or correct M1 for purchase you bet your bottom dollar that bolt's heat lot better reference correctly to the serial number or I'm discounting my offer.

References yes but nothing is written in stone for heat lots
Need to remember bins were filled with parts and then refilled as parts got low. Last in, first out ,some parts may have layed on the bottom for a long time before being installed on a rifle.
There are documented original rifles with very close serial numbers that have a big range in heat lot between the rifles.
