I have a scope mounted on my M1A and need to bore sight it. I have one of those laser tools. The arbor is not long enough to clear the flash guard.
I don't have the pliers.
Is there a "field expedient" method for removal?
Or do I wait for the pliers.

You can use a brass punch and tap the nut lose but take the set screw out first take your time and it will come lose.

It might be easier to just fire a few rounds real close to get started rather than to mess with taking off your flash hider. If you can't shoot at 25 yards, and you have weaver/picatinny type rings, then try putting the rifle in a SOLID rest and aiming the iron sights at the target. Then without disturbing the rifle's alignment, place the scope on the mount and adjust accordingly. That should get you on paper.
