Wonder what ever happened to that feller ...

Called himself CattleCall6 back then at BR ...

He was in the process of doing up some real nice carbon fiber handguards and even showed a few pics of his prototypes ...

Lots of folks were quite interested in acquiring them with potential orders and then all of a sudden he just disappeared into thin air ...

Seemed like a nice feller and was from somewhere here in Missouri (North Central I believe) ...

My membership there was terminated so maybe one of ya'll could maybe pose the question over there but I doubt anyone could tell us anything ... Dunno ... :?:

IIRC, he had problems with the mfg process and gave up.

I have only been around for 18 months or so, so I guessed I missed this!

Sorry if I am dredging up any bad memories.

I put a walnut handguard on mine to match the beautiful stock I had. It cracked from heat the first time out. Fultons is selling some handguards made from some thermoplastic. I'm using the vented one too now. The are flimsey , break easily , and give heat distortion waves in your sight picture , but look so cool! I might make a milling fixture so I can slot the later , thicker fibreglass guards.

Yeah I "donated" an un-issued vented handguard to that project, the deal was I would get the first one made in exchange. I sure was hopeing he would pull it off, oh-well lesson learned. :(

Seems funny that he just kind of dropped of the face of the earth though, doesn't it?

Has anyone tried to veneer walnut on a synthetic handguard. I think you would be able to with a vacuum press and epoxy. Get the walnut look without the cracking. I would try it if I was back home  Just a thought

I would be willing to part with another one of my vented handguards if it looks to be a good venture.

Make that two of us!

I think carbon fiber would be specially beneficial in vented and scout handguard to eliminate cracking.

Cool stuff, Scotty 8)
