They make ones that bolt right on,but they are not Legal for Service Rifle Competition unless you shoot in the Match Rifle Category and I would not want to do that with an M-14! 
Can you put a rubber buttplate (for syn) on m1a wood stock?
Can you put a rubber buttplate (meant for USGI synthetic) on m1a wood stock? Does it bolt right on?

They make ones that bolt right on,but they are not Legal for Service Rifle Competition unless you shoot in the Match Rifle Category and I would not want to do that with an M-14! On my current project which ill be snapping some shots of soon, i fit a rubber butt plate onto a wood stock and did some fiberglassing to beef up the pistol grip. It looks great and locks up tight in my shoulder.
I got mine to fit...I had to remove the wooden dowel and then it would bolt right on.
