LRB or Springfield Super Match

Buying M1A. LRB or Springfield Super MAtch? Which one?

I'm having a tough time deciding on which rifle to buy. I see everyone rates the LRB rifle's as the best rifle out there because of the forged reciever and the use of all GI parts. I really like the looks of their dual lugged reciever with the built in 1913 rail. But I was wondering if all the USGI parts that go into the guns are new or like new condition. If any one has bought one of these rifles I would appreciate the response. I was also looking at the Springfield Super Match. I've heard that Springfield has had some quality problems but was wondering if this was a thing of the past or if anyone is still having these problems. I would think that all the parts that Springfield are using in the Super Match would be at least USGI quality or is this not true. I heard that Sprinfield also has an excellent customer service reputation. Sorry for the long post but any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Tell me the pros and cons to each rifle.

Thanks
Randy

Do you want a custom built hot rod where you gather most all the parts, find a builder and have it built? Or do you want to go down and buy a new 05 Corvette??

Just a comparison but it makes my point... It can be fun both ways. most of the time it will cost you more to build your own but you will also get exactly what you want. I also had a very hard time deciding. I went straight ahead and did the "rule of two's" I ordered a new Socom and I am now gathering all the parts to build myself a fun ERB - and Believe me the second gun will really pass up the Socom as far as cost but it also has the "fun" factor of doing all the hunting - which is part of the thrill of building it = this forum is a great place to learn... Welcome to the sickness -
Realize that LRB does not build rifles. You have to supply parts to a builder.

Dave:

I guess I took it off their web site that they had complete rifles but maybe this was just a special for the shot show.
they are building a small amount of complete rifles and a small amount of barrelled actions.
Has anyone bought on of the LRB rifles. If so could you send some pictures to me and tell me what you think of the rifle.
Ordered a chrome lined wilson complete build from Lou at LRB the day he offered them on his web site. Will be february when it is dine. Can't say for sure how good it will be, but I sure am exceited.

When exactly did you order your rifle if you don't mind me asking and was it at the price on their website. Did you have to supply anything for the build? If you want to email me at [email protected] If you have the time to answer these questions.

Thanks
Randy
Randy (Theozz),

I ordered it Dec 8, 2004. At Lou's posted asking price. It is a complete USGI build, will fire out of the box. I was going to go LRB receiver and collect USGI parts, put after I added up the costs of a USGI build, I decided to go with the complete LRB. Good luck.

Chris
I ordered a complete LRB M14 from Lou on January 3rd, 2005. I talked to Lou on Friday the 14th and he told me that it would most likley ship out the second week of Febuary
"I ordered a complete LRB M14 from Lou" OK, I guess I was wrong - but it is only the first time this year - gimme a break!

Dave P - the year is eary - good luck... 8O
:( Ten years ago I would have gone with a SA Super Match but at this time I would choose the LRB. ;)
LRB Super Match

Last year, I built a Super Match style M14 for LRB Arms which Lou displayed at the Shot Show and had used on one of his flyers. The LRB receiver makes into a nice rifle. I'd suggest that you can have one built for two to three hundred dollars more than a new SA Super Match and be miles ahead!
If you are in a hurry, I have a nice Smith Enterprise Super Match style rifle available for sale.
I would like to thank everyone for their input. Everyone seems to like the LRB so I guess I will be calling Lou at LRB to see what I can get setup.

Ted:

I will have to keep you in mind if I have to have one built. I have read quite a few posts regarding your fine workmanship.

Thanks
Randy
theozz, if I read Ted's post correctly, he has one ready to go. I'd jump on it if I had the money :!: .
Dido what Jack said. I have a Smith Enterprise LRB build. Its top shelf :p
If Ted has a gun for sale - Jump.... I am gathering my parts to ship to Ted so he can do his magic....
