Hi all, I bought a Bula xm21 barreled reciever, bolt, and oprod from Jeff.
It's already head spaced so it should be a quick build.

I've never installed an oprod guide, or bolt stop.
Does the oprod guide just get tapped into place, and secured with a roll pin or must it be knurled or JBWelded into place?

Any tricks needed to install the bolt stop?

I'm jacked to get this done once it arrives.
Thanks all

Go to Tony Bens Vids on YouTube explains it all. You will need to line the oprod, oprod guide and gas cylinder up. Put masking tape on the barrel and oprod guide and put some alignment marks on the tape so when you install oprod guide all the previous mentioned components line up. You can use a 3/4 inch pipe to set the oprod guide to barrel , by slipping over barrel and hitting the end with a dead blow hammer, of course the pipe needs to be longer than your barrel. I have used this method on two barreled bolted receivers that I purchased from JRA/Bula. But do check out Tonys Vids. I always JB weld all op rod guides.
Good Luck

For bolt stop installation, start at the 5 minute mark...

Now that reviewed Tony's vid, I'm getting Leery about doing this myself and breaking off an ear on the reciever. Maybe I'll send it off to someone to finish it off. I wasn't looking to do it myself as much as getting it done and using up spare parts I accumulated.

I have done about five with no problem.

I purchased this Bot Catch Pin Punch from Brownells [it is marked for an AR 15] but works perfect for the M14.

If you use Tony's video as a reference, tape the side of the receiver good with painters tape and go slow, this punch makes easy work of the bolt stop pin installation.

Not all USGI bolt stops are machined to the correct drawing dimensions.
I learned this the hard way. I now have a drift pin that's just barley undersize that I first install with the stop and spring. I can now check the bolt clearance as it moves between the stop and the inside roof of the receiver. if it's ok then I install the roll pin.
Just my 2 cents.
