Building 12.5 Pistol!

Hi,
Decided to build a 12.5 Pistol as something a little easier to carry in a truck or an around the house defense weapon.

Most that I saw at my LGS were expensive and did not have what I really wanted in the build.

I had a Tactical Machine Lower left from 3 I purchased at one time.

Faced the upper EXPO receiver, to get everything as straight as possible, removed about .005 to get square and flat face.

I show a pic of the upper on a flat mill vise with a square, this proves nothing for accuracy of course, but was just curious and in for the education.

That one looks really good. Some can be way to big a look well crappy. The recoil on the pistol you are building will not be a problem even if you run it with a thread protector.

That one is the wrong thread pattern for a 5.56 barrel. Probably a very good choice if you get one with the correct thread pitch.

Hi,
Well, "AR Stoner" (whoever that is?) is not really known for quality that I have seen and...

No telling who actually made it. (Midway won't tell you!)

Admittedly, I'm sure there is actually not any working differences.
I’m like you, function over label or price every time.

That's the correct thread pitch for my 300 BLK.

From what I can find... "AR-STONER™ products are manufactured in the USA in an ISO 9001:2008 registered facility."

Hi,
As I said, I'm sure it is fine and a Bargain, but...

I like knowing who made it, even if it is made in China.

Wifey needed a set of tires and there was a brand made in CHINA, but got rave reviews and were more affordable and plenty good for my wife's trips around town.

Been a couple of years now and totally satisfied ,but did the research before buying.

Might just get the same brand when I need a new set of tires!

Do tell ole son, I need a set of tires for a Tacoma. Preferably pasture grips.
Hi,
Well got them at a "Tire Kingdom" if you have one close.

Got the same warrantee as the others, including free road service, for a flat tire if needed.

Hard to beat the price!

Hi,
When I was a Boy in Georgia, with my first car...

Used to run what they called "Recaps", I bought in Valdosta...

Oh, everyone said they were no good and would blow, yada, yada, yada...

I would run them on hard and dirt roads for years, never had a problem?
Hell when I was a chap I drove pulp wood trucks with recaps. Wish I could find a set for my ole yota.

Hi,
LOL!

Now Tobacco Farming is HARD work, but...

Compared to Pulp Wooding (in the 60's)...

It was like, laying on the beach drinking Margaritas!!!

Nasty, dangerous, job there!

Spent a fair bit of time in Quitman, Thomasville, and Moultrie riding horses back in the 70's.

Hi,
The area North of Valdosta, where I grew up was called "Snake Nation", because of the population...

Of Eastern Diamondback Rattle Snakes, I mean big ones and plenty of them.

I joke with people today, how every 8 year old in the 60's, was taught to look out for Rattlesnakes and how to turn out a room light when leaving!

Was not a lot of money laying around back then and everyone worked that could hold a hoe, or carry water.

Completely different today!
