Who should plan on buging out???
ANYONE THAT:
Lives in a large Metroplex...
Lives in the area where a large Metroplex will be evacuating to...
Lives in a Hurricane Zone...
Lives in an Earthquake Zone...
Lives in a Volcano Zone...
Lives where a Dam might fail and flood your area...
Lives in any area where a river might flood your property...
Lives in a Forest Fire Zone...
Lives in the "Shadow" of Nuclear Power Power Plant...
Lives in some place that is dangerous that I have not named here...

IF you live in one of the above you should have an evacuation plan, that you can GET OUT with all your stuff in 30 minutes or less...

If you are in an earthquake zone you should have your "stuff" in a seperate place outside your house...

For most other of these disasters you will have some prior notice.

I'd add "within vicinity of railroad tracks." Closest we came to having to bug out was a narrowly-averted chemical spill from a tanker car many years ago.

Ideally me and my wife are trying to find away to actually live and work at our bug out location. We are under thirty and want kids so a job and schools are important. The thing I've noticed the most is that it's hard to find a spot that is ideally suited to buy land, and build a bug in location, that has a good market for jobs.
