Acra-Steel is a good product and works well. As an observation, the handling of the Acra-Steel is very similar to Devcon steel. Both are thick, thicker than a "butter" consistency.
The reason I like to Acra-Steel or Devcon, is that the finished product gives you a "steel" solid platform for bedding. I feel that it is stronger and will stand more recoil/abuse than simple Acra-Gel or Marine Tex.
However, I think people just starting to "bed" rifles might consider Acra-Gel or Marine Tex or something similar because they are easy to use and fairly inexpensive.
