USN1 Went to boot In San Diego Aug. of 1972 co. 297 I do remember. Went to A&C School in GREAT LAKES, It was VERY cold. Went to Guam for 18 Months on the USS Proteus, Then back to Various Ships and Shore Duty (With another C School in 81) ALL in Sunny San Diego till 1992. Have been in Oklahoma City since retiring. I don't regret any of it, and still miss (some of it) at times. Originally from Roswell, N.M. Still visit about every 6 months. You can never stay away from HOME. I have a M1A National Match. Shoot It whenever I can, also back home, lots of space for the long shots. USN2

RTC Great Lakes, summer of 1975, Co. 119. Had some HT as a Co. Commander and some doper-looking seaman apprentice as his hey-boy. It was so HOT the day we graduated, the shoe polish melted off our shoes and ran onto the welts (top, edges of the soles that stick out). Remember melting the shoe polish with a lighter to get more polish and a better shine... and waxing the GD barracks floor with shoe polish?

Damn, it sucked!
