I have a Chinese M14 with a standard length barrel. I was thinking of getting the barrel shortened down to 16.5" - 18" and was wondering what the best way to do it would be.
I thought the two obvious choices would be to get a gun smith to cut the barrel, crown it, put the front sight back on, etc. and option two would be to buy an aftermarket short barrel and then get it headspaced, etc. I would think getting a gunsmith to cut down the barrel might be a touch cheaper, but what do ya'll recommend?
And, I do have another full size M14 I am going to leave full length so converting it back to a full-length barrel is not really an issue.
