I have a green barrel for a US 1917 Rem. '06...it has a few markings near front sight J A, then an emblem

that looks like a O with small wings at 12 to 10 o' clock (could be an illustration of an explosive with lit fuse) followed an

inch down by a L. Any ideas of manufacture or other info? Thanks

Johnson Automatics.

"O with small wings" is the ordnance bomb, the symbol for U.S. Army Ordnance.

Don't know about the "L", possibly an inspector mark.

JA barrels are generally quite good though they had some problems early in production that were resolved.

Thanks G.Valley...Checked under JA and see they have a Forum for barrels, need to make sure it is '06 (which a rd.

placed in the end of barrel sits at the right depth) and will work/fit the 1917. Thank you again for your response

and information.

GV, would you know where I can find wood components for the 1917, not original but would fit receiver, barrel etc? Thanks

GardenValley, how difficult is it to replace the barrel...I noticed a, 'line up mark' on the receiver. If after sighting in, I may try the spare JA barrel and see how well a group it has..

I don't know the torque needed and if a Lock-tite should be used on the threads. Thanks
