Where can I find the serial # range of the 1903 recievers that are too brittle?
I've been drooling over a mint Sedgely Springfield sporter in a local gunshop. Rumor has it that the the rifle has one of the brittle recievers.

285,507 for Rock Island is when they began the improved heat treatment, and 800,000 for Springfield.GI1
What's that Sedgely sporter selling for? I've never seen one, but I would assume it is worth a bit as an old collectible sporter from back in the days....

Sarge,
They're asking $900 and the serial # is in the 385,000 range, but I'm not sure if it's a Rock Island or a Springfield.
