Can anyone supply the formula for the lube on a 22 cal. bullet? I noticed the Eley 22 rounds have what appears to be some sort of lube on the bullet itself. Thank you. Art

Hi Art...

The various ammo makers make a big deal about their lubes on .22, how it's supposed to keep the bore clean etc. See Remington "Kleenbore" etc... GI7

I think they are proprietary. However, I'm going to guess that it's mostly beeswax. But that's purely a guess. GI8

EDIT: AHA!!! I was right.

According to this post a standard lead bullet lube would be 50% beeswax and 50% Lee Liquid Alox:

any good lead rimfire ammo will have lube on it, but i certainly cant tell you exactly what it is. i will attest that all manufacturers lubes are different.
