Can an M1A barrelled receiver be switched from one stock to another without modification? Stated differently, I'm sitting on a CMP grade A kit and waiting on an LRB receiver, but have been salivating over Sage, JAE and other stocks. Can I switch the barrelled receiver back and forth from a USGI walnut stock to an aftermarket stock or are there modifications required?

short answer is yes
the sage stock requires a different op rod guide and a little time and tools to change over
the JAE stock is a little more user friendly
it all boils down to what you intend to do with it and how much accessibility you want/need to do maintenance on your rifle
the sage stock is more time consuming to strip down as it was not ment to be field stripped daily by the soldiers in the field but by a unit armor, but it's not hard to take down after you get the hang of it.
and you can do all general maintenance without pulling it out of the chasse
