I'm on the fence between a brownells and a wheeler, about the same price. Brownells' has a slightly lower average review rating, but also a different set of users so...

You guys have strong experiences in either way, or a better suggestion? I would think it wouldn't be too hard to make a cylinder with a square lip, but if one is known to regularly have bad samples make it past QC, I'd rather increase my odds of not having to return things.

The Brownell's unit claims to be made in the USA. I can't find info on the wheeler. If they're even roughly equivalent, that swings things to the Brownell's piece.

I'm not planning on doing a whole lot of this, FWIW, just playing and exploring.

I guess it's a matter of how far you really want to take it.

And what to do if the threads aren't cut just right?

I can admire ultimate excellence, and it's nice to know where it could go, but I'm not going to be seriously chasing anything like that. For $30, I can piddle around and try it out.

FWIW, Wheeler finally got back to me and said, "China."

I went Brownell's based only on that. We shall see what fun awaits!
