Bought this off of Gunbroker for a pretty good price.
Is an early 7.62mm marked SA receiver, TRW bolt, Winchester op-rod, Mixed GI trigger group and an HRA barrel that gauges -0.5 at the Muzzle.

The entire rifle is a dark black finish. A buddy of mine has an earlier SA with the same finish. Anybody know anything about it? Had a really worn set of lock-bar sights that I replaced with a nice set of pretty black HRA Garand sights to match. tossed the strange camo stock to the back of the work room and put on some GI furniture (thanks to IronWorker).

Friend of mine lighting off a few.

Didn't have a ton of time but got her into the middle at 100yd so anxious to see what she will do out further and with me wearing glasses where I can actually see the sight (damn eyes need different glasses for dots and irons).

Roadking, will have to keep an eye on that. It is not as noticeable on the actual rifle and seems to come from the side rather than the bottom. There are a number of dings in the finish. Whatever this black is, it is not a really durable finish. putting on the handguard with clip scratched it right off the barrel.

I have a strange camo stock exactly like that. It is almost like the texture of truck bed liner paint. I have seen at least one more besides mine. I think some one was selling them in Shotgun News years ago.

Nice shooting! I love seeing range pictures like this. It may motivate me to load up my gear and head out today myself.

You old salts need to go see your eye doc and get checked for cataracts. I had mine removed back when I was 68 and my vision returned 20/20 and I no longer have to wear glasses at all.

Your restocked M-1A now looks like what a real honest to God, Nam era M-14 is supposed to look like.
