here I go again was thinking :lol: arn't all 30 cal bullits the same ? what is the diffrence in a M-80 match m-118 7.62 nato 173 gr. and a m2 for a 30-06 match m-72 173 gr what I am getting at is will a m-2 bullet work in a M1a M-80 7.62 what is the diffrence :roll: ? tia

All the bullets you listed are .308" dia.

The M2 is 150gr FMJ (flat base)
M80 is 147gr FMJBT
They're the same exiting the muzzle, but the M80 flies a little flatter past 300yds.

M118/M72 is 173gr FMJBT

Any of those bullets will work fine in either rifle when loaded to nominal velocities with suitable powders.

is all 7.62 (30 caliber) the same? No!!

Some of the 7,62x39mm uses a .311 bullet instead of a .308 bullet. I know no difference between the 308 bullet and the 30-06 bullet, except for how they are constructed, but they can be interchanged. Bottom line is be careful what you are using.
