Went to the range today with BrutalTuna & T-man. I had my new West Texas Ordnance Poly, BT had his new 03A3 & T-man had his new Yugo SKS, so we were all shooting new rifles today. We all got to shoot each other's rifles & had a great time exclaiming how wonderful they all were. ;)

BT's 03A3 is really nice. It looks great, functions flawlessly & is very accurate. Fun to shoot too. I'm gonna have to get one eventually, if only for the historicity of the weapon.

T-man's SKS was a revelation for me. I hadn't really considered getting one, but after looking at it and shooting it both BT & I both decided that we just had to have one. Oh, my aching wallet!! 8O

The WTO Poly is just awesome, simply incredible. I am so happy with it. Got it sighted in & with the rear windage set to the center the front sight is just a hair to the right of center - Clayton did a fine job indexing the barrel. Fired @ 150 rounds with no problems at all. Very smooth action & accurate as all get out. I could not be more pleased with this rifle & the job Clayton did.

BT said "this is great, when you pull the trigger there's no doubt". T-man said "don't ever sell this rifle, John. I'm serious. It's a keeper".

Ah, what a great day!! :D :D :D :D :D

Hiya Quag,

Sounds like you and guys had a GREAT time!!! I am really stoked you got to shoot the Poly and that it's a performer! AWESOME!

That was a GREAT range report! I hope I get to shoot some tomorrow!

Hmmm... I would love to see what the '03 and the SKS look like... I am living in a narrow niche... and don't get to really experience other rifles... but I love looking at them!

BTW: I woke up and noticed I got a new avatar! hehehe... man, SixT is having fun!

Aloha and Best Wishes,

Sounds like you guys had a great time. Nothin better than sharing the experience with buddies. Glad to hear all the new pruchases worked out. Never know what to expect from a new rifle. I know what you mean about the SKS, not the best paper punchers but they sure hit what you shoot at. 150-300 bucks isnt to bad for an SKS Heck you probably spend more for your extras on that new Poly prurchase of yours 8O which by the way sure looks nice.

Dat at the Range

Quag,

Glad to hear you had a great time at the range, and the Poly performed so well. I've got an SKS, and all I can say is they are really great to shoot. Plinking at its finest. One thing I found was that I shouldn't shoot the M1A after the SKS. The Yugo has such a creepy trigger, it makes the SA seem like it has a hair trigger. Take care.

Thanks guys! Yup, we all had a blast today, it was absolutely great!

Clayton did such a terrific job installing the all-SA USGI parts kit on the chinese receiver. It's a fine shooter. ;)

I'm looking at one of the AIM "as new" Yugo SKS's right now for $145. 8O
