Just got my first M1A. A SS National Match from SA.

Been reloading everything for 45 years but this is my first auto service rifle. It was at the store. I was to. There you go.

Waiting the 10 days required by the Socialist Republic of California and am reading everything I can to prepare. Getting loads and stuff so I can crank up the Dillon or the Redding Turrent.

While I am a bit diasbled it dosn't stop trips to the range. There is always some nice young dude who will take out my targets.DI5

Done a lot of BPCR silhouettes with black powder in 45/70s, 40/65s 45/90s etc. and decades of varmiting with all kinds of calibers. (One of the first 17s). The new M1A is more for the range and just for fun. One gets to do that at at an advance age.GI2

Shooting your M1A at Pala

If you are interested on Jan 30 at Pala there is a military rifle match. Course of fire 40rds for record from 200-500 meters at metal silhouettes like you used in black powder. You have to use either cast bullets or lead tip hunting type Sierra Game Kings etc.
You might know Harold who is the Range Officer. I plan to be there as of now. Welcome abound

Pick up the rifle tomorrow. My dealer left town to go to Vegas Shot Show so my ten days became 16. (Pig PhartzDISHOUT)

Sac Valley silouettes looks very good. Done that with the buffler rifles. Got to get on paper first. Learn the ins, outs and quirks. Making medium to lighter loads tonight from receipies culled on the various boards. Hope it isn't dance2.

Oh, saw a recoil buffer dohicky somewhere and it read like a good idea. Any comments? GI8

Welcome to the forum. Be aware the M1-A likes medium burn rate powders like 4895 and 2520. And bullets 125 grain to 175 grain. I'm sure you have manuals, don't go for high velocity. Till you know what a powder is going to do. I have one gun that 43 grains of 2520 gets me 2550 to 2600 with 168 grain bullets. The other one will reach that velocity with 43.0 grains of the same powder, and same bullet. Both have 22 inch barrels. So go slow these are gas guns, to much could cause operating rod trouble. Have fun!
