IF you talk to ten different preppers and ask what is the "number one skill to survive", you will get eleven or twelve different answers. In my opinion the number one skill to survive, isn't a skill at all, it is the awareness, desire, and belief that you WANT to survive. Everything else flows from that.

I think this is the guy that has a MeetUp group here in Phoenix called "Desert Ops Training" or something like that. I can't say anything about it, but so far, 100% of the groups here are only about getting your money and trying to sell you something you "need to survive".

The guys name is Jeff Smith, and if you look at most of the events, they charge for them all. Plus there are ads for "gotta have to survive" gear all over the place. They could be different people, but the fact that he does NOT give his name here makes me suspicious. Take a look at blatant commercialism disguised as Prepping.

Notice with each article they also include something they try and sell you and it ends in a sales pitch. That is how it usually goes with "prepping".

I would say being flexible is critical for survival.
I'd agree. Mental state is critical.

Other than that, if I had to pick just ONE thing, I would pick fire.

This forum has such a wealth of knowledge about so many things (including women advice, haha). Cant you download whole websites and make them available offline? Would be a useful tool should the interwebz go down... as long as the generator is running, lol.

Nope. Wrong guy. I don't have a meetup group and won't be starting one. I started my blog when I was in Afghanistan because I didn't like laying in bed at night staring at the ceiling, waiting for the next rocket attack like I did in Iraq.

The ads on the site give me enough money to pay for the hosting. Certainly not nearly enough to compensate for the time I put into research and writing.

As for my name, it may not be classified or anything and my photo is on the site as well as the fact that I'm in the Phoenix area but there's no reason to put it out for everyone to take 30 seconds to find out my home address for the next time I'm deployed. Graywolf is the name my guys gave me on my first deployment to Afghanistan because my beard was so gray. I like the name.
