Went out this morning and fired 30 rounds of ammo loaded in '90 LC brass w/41.5gr of H4895 and CCI#34 primers. 20 had Sierra 168's and 10 w/175 Sierra's... NO difference I could tell in primer appearance or felt recoil.

Only issue was with the new Sadlak gas piston I installed. I put a dab of grease on the tip that impacts the OP rod like I saw the gunsmith do and did not clean my gas cylinder and the piston gummed up... NO GREASE! Had to put the old one back in to keep rounds chambering

Who put's grease on the tail of a pistol or where it makes contact on the op-rod? No one I know.....Why didn't you just wipe it off and reinstall?

I must have the only grooved pistons/rifles on the planet that don't choke.

Thanks you guys and I have leaned my lesson! I scrubbed the gas piston out with a .45 cal brush and a chamber swab and it does the 'tilt' test just fine now. Piston had some crud built up on the end and would not slide out until I 'ejected' it with the OP rod. Cleaned and reinstalled now.

Lubed mine with 'anti-size' kurtC

Would be concerned that the gunsmith you saw put grease on tip of oprod is not familiar with the platform and would not consider having him work on mine! Live and learn-sometimes, the hard way .lol.
YES! boomerpusher, I agree. He was a guy I went to HS with and was recommended by another friend? AM beginning to wonder though...

I questioned some things and he told me he was in artillery!

An ex marine that told me he was qualified in that platform and would give me a 'maintenance/lubrication' hands on!

Stop fixing things that are not broken!
I will put it this way if it is not in TONY BEN'S Videos than don't do it.

The last Gunsmith I knew almost blew my buddies head off. I guess he forgot it was loaded.
