Does it shoot well?
We shall see, first time I have seen 2016 MEN. Anyone else notice the lack of primer crimps ?

I ordered some up....frankly... even though MagTech / CBC now owns MEN, I still have more faith in the German production lines then Brazilian lines.

Looks like there should be a bunch comin'.

I passed on the MEN and ordered Hirtenberger on Tuesday. Will be interested to learn how the new MEN shoots. I'd rather store new ammo, rather than vintage. Also the new MEN is lacking the Nato stamp?

The MEN has No Nato head stamp, No primer crimp and I don't think there's any sealant on the case mouth. Although I could be wrong on that.

Still thinking I should have ordered the 320rd. case to give it a try. 20/20 hind site. I have some of the older MEN that shoots fine.

FWIW - I grabbed a case of the new MEN15 9mm that SG has. Beautiful stuff, extremely well done. The primers were sealed, but not crimped. Not true NATO spec, but extremely good ball. I presume this 7.62x51 will follow suit. Good features (some sealant) and likely good quality, reloadable, reloaders would appreciate not having a primer pocket crimp to remove.

I would have done the same if I was in the market for ammo. When I first got the email announcing current production German ammo that in the past was NATO, I thought this is great!

Then I saw that it was not NATO ammo anymore, and now that I read here that CBC/Magtech owns it, I won't buy any.

If I were buying, I would buy the Hirt instead from SGA also even though it is '79-80 ammo.

Keep in mind that the NATO symbol doesn't mean anything. Anyone can put it on their cases, as there is no NATO specification on the brass itself.

It is only required if the ammunition "might" be distributed to NATO forces. In that case it must be tested by NATO to see if it meets the Interoperability STANAG. If it does, the package gets the Shamrock looking symbol. That is the one that means the ammo meets NATO specifications.

As for these "specifications," one has to remember is that the M14 has not been part of the test protocol for nearly 5 decades. The only 7.62 weapon currently used for interoperability testing is the M240 machinegun, which fires from an open bolt with a fixed firing pin and an oversized chamber. The performance bar is set pretty low. RNGR2

In other words, way too much attention is being paid to the NATO mark on the headstamp. I would be more concerned with the type and amount of powder, to see if it is compatible with the M14 gas system. It looks like flattened ball powder.

SG Ammo has 2016 production German MEN Ammo for 56 cents a round.
No NATO head stamp No primer crimp.
Is it Boxer or Berdan primed?

Anyone have any word on this ammo? I am really on the fence on getting a case of this or ZQI.
I will be trying it this weekend, so if you can wait.... I would.

My M21 doesn't like ZQI.... YMMV.

I will say .... it sure is clean dang good looking ammo.

I am going to check the loaded rounds tonight for various measurements. ( The OCD in me )... charge weight, concentricity, bullet weights etc.

Been thinking the same thing since I got my email notice from SGAmmo . I noticed that SG extended their shipping times for ammo until next Tuesday due to high demand for all ammo . I would not think that the 2016 Men ammo would present a problem with the M1A but my opinion is only a uneducated guess and will await bfoosh006's review who will be shooting some of this .
