My friend showed me today his 1903A3 he purchased in the 1960s for approximately $40.00. I beleive it is a commercial receiver, but I told him I would post the information on this board and try to find out about it.

The receiver is marked:
MOD 1903A3 CAL 30-6
NAIL ORD
I suspect it should be NATL ORD but is not stamped all the way.
SO-EL MONTE CAL
5,019,XXX

The barrel is marked:
RA Remington I assume.
"flaming bomb" symbol
4-44
Barrel is parkerized and the front sight is blued with sight cover.

The bolt is marked with the letters B&S and the "flaming bomb" symbol.
On the cocking handle(?) it is marked B.P.

The stock is beautiful walnut with no dings and no cartouche and no circle P proof marks.
The hand guard is a very dark, almost black plactic.

Any information on this receiver and rifle is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

A good place......

A good place to start your research: http://m1903.com/

Those 1903's are getting difficult to find - there's a bunch of them out there, however, most of them have been "sporterized" to one degree or another. They are a very important piece of our history.......
