I'm considering putting a low power scope on my Scout. I plan to use the rifle for the local rifle league and for hunting deer at ranges of 150 yards or less. Usually pretty thick tree cover where I need to identify the target very quickly before he takes off or is behind a bunch of trees. The Nikon Encore is a pistol scope but it has the extended eye relief that should work with the Scout very well. Parallax is set to 100 yards which is about perfect. The eye relief is 9 to 20 inches. I think I would be between 10 and 13 inches with the scope mounted which seems to be about right. Here are the specs on the scope. Anyone have it/Tried it?

Cabella's has these mounts on sale as well. Any opinions? I like that they can be removed in the field if needed. Would I pick medium or low? I think low since the stock rail is mounted pretty high on the Scout. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunt...Rprd753491&WTz_l=SBC;BRprd753491;cat104008680

The Encore was originally advertised as a Scout style optic due to parallax being focused out at 100 yards vs. the normal 50 yard focus point for a pistol scope. Regardless, I have had one for about a year now and really like it. I have the BDC reticle and it works well. You can go online or obtain a software package that will help you identify the aim points in for the BDC, I find it pretty handy

My SOCOM16 has an Ultimak M8 rail with the scope on it and installed in a JAE stock. The eye relief that works for me is about 14".
