      If you can't find one in black, dye a green one...

      We had black, USGI, M1 "seat belt" slings on our boot M16A1's (mid. 80's). When I built up a clone of that rifle a couple years back, I search high & low but couldn't find anything in black, other than some repros. Ended up getting some Rit Dye and dyed an extra sling I had lying around... No issues.
