      I use the color indicating desiccant silica gel in my gun safe and nuke it every week in the microwave to dry it out. The color change lets you know when it needs to be heated and recharged.

      I wouldn't. I kept a well-oiled remington 700 in a sealed case, foam all cut out all custom-ish, and it got little bits of spot corrosion on the barrel. It cleaned up nicely, and maybe it would have fared better with some desiccant, but... I wouldn't do it again.

      Ideally, a safe or closet with a big jar of desiccant that you 'recharge' once in awhile. Either roll your own with a bunch of beads in a cotton bag...


      or... if you want to be fancy...
