Has anyone tried a heat reflection shield tape on the inside of the handguard to see if that would reduce the heat transfer from prolong firing on their barrel?
I'm interested in doing this because there are heat reflector tape out there that reduces 90% of the heat being transfer to it.

You want the heat to dissipate and let the barrel cool, not reflect back onto it. USGI handguards were coated on the inside with a heat resilient paint to protect the fiberglass.

Using the tape to protect the handguard is fine, as long as the heat has somewhere to escape to.

It takes a lot of firing (about 40 rounds a minute) to get the barrel hot enough to damage a handguard.
