Has anyone used one of these? Looks like a good idea, especially if you need a higher front sight .

I had never seen or heard of these. They would not be legal for Service Rifle Competition, but they could be neat in some cases to use. I would use the M16A2 front sight in it as you then have a square post front sight. You would probably have to cut the threaded portion of the A2 sight down, but it looks like that may be all.

Went back to the range after having received the barreled action back from SAI. Springfield replaced my barrel with a new one. Reinstalled everything into the Sage. At 50 yards, in order for POA to equal POI, elevation drum has to be moved approximately 21-22 clicks past bottom-out position. If memory serves, that only used to be maybe 7-8 clicks in the old stock. Still too much? Barrel tension screw again is just barely touching the barrel.

As such, drum is calibrated to the 2 mark at 50 yards, which should give me a rough 200-250 meter zero.

Probably a moot issue since the rifle will be scoped, but I am curious to know why this is happening. I'm wondering if my theory is sound in that the Sage block is actually pushing the barrel upwards slightly?

ETA: might have to pick up something like this and bottom the front sight post to compensate:

The front post looks like it might be a common part for ar15 so shortening it would be no big deal as they are easily replaced. I would get a front post for an ar15 and check the threads against the one on the tech sight before I do any shortening. Btw where did you get the tech sight from and is still available?
      Right here my man http://www.tech-sights.com/m14.htm

I went ahead and shortened the front sight, she's back to being a tact driver with 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards dead nuts bulls eye one click up from mechanical zero (bottomed out) which is PERFECT. I like my rear sight peep sitting low and not a mile high in the air. I can't say that I like the post that short, I like how thin it is but target acquisition doesn't seem to be quite as fast as it was before the post was shortened to a use able height

IN THE LONG RUN, what i'll have to do for the scout squad is sell my GLFS-18 and buy a GLFS-22, replace the Sp1 sight which I called tech sight, they will sell me one no problem. The GLFS-22 will drop the tech sight down far enough to be USEFUL on the scout squad platform.

I hope anyone who is interested in tech sights, and owns a scout or even a regular M14/M1a Heeds this warning:

Tech sights are taller than a standard sight by damn near an 8th of an inch adjusted all the way down GI3............. probably why you don't see a lot of people running them... I run one because I enjoy the thinner ar-15 front sight post a lot. Also as an added bonus if you were to put a tritium ar-15 front sight post in their you'd STILL be thinner than a NM M14 front sight GI5

This raises an interesting question though. How the eff would you run one on a standard length (which is what they are designed for) and NOT have to jack your elevation up 12+ clicks... as it stands right now I don't see any other way to run a tech sight other than ON an 18inch squad, or an 18 inch squad in the stock front sight location or with a GLF-22. No other combination will leave you in the ball park of the correct height...

Note the GLFS-22 is the short one the GLFS-18 is taller for use of regular m14 USGI and NM sight heights on a shorter barrel. I have a spare NM front sight around here, i'll probably throw both the GLFS-18 and NM sight in the PX as soon as I get a GLFS-22 in my greasey hands

Any body here try one of these things...

It could give a little finer dial in.

Yep I have one on my JRA para. Read my posts on JRA/Para Archangel thread. I describe the unit and have a couple of photos showing side and top view. Yes the post is .047 at the top, its adjustable for height ala AR and needed if you want a finer sight picture on a barrel length shorter than 22". Works well for me. the appearance takes a little getting used to.

Thanks for the info. That’s what it looks like to me. I find it’s very easy to get a great sight picture with that post. Maybe because I’m familiar with it. Unfortunately I have no clue what happened to the original factory sight.
